The Little Stars School was founded by Asha Pandey, and opened on July 1996.
The school operates from nursery level, and the project objective is
to develop the school up to the 9th grade standard.
The basic education provided at Little Stars School  qualifies children to
continue their education in a Hindi & English medium school.
The Little Stars School is for poverty’s children who do not have  other
educational opportunities.
Tuition, uniforms, school books, notebooks, pencil,  erasers and snacks
all costs money- money which these children do not have.
Unlike the many government run schools in Varanasi, Little Stars School
provides these basics supplies.
Most of the children at the Little Stars School  would not learn in a state run
institution where sitting up straight and memorizing from textbooks receive
good marks. It os not education formalities that these children need,
but a stimulating and comfortable environment where active learning is
encouraged in each individual child.

Initially the school enrolled 15 students and was run from a small room,
there are presently around 400 children enrolled at the Little Stars School,
who range in age from  3-17 years.

The Little Stars Schools includes an hostel for 20 orphans/ street girls.
